Straight Line Was A Lie - The Beths (Aug 2025)
General Notes
Heavy use of looping backgrounds with vocals forward Overall it feels like 2 separate albums that have been smashed together 3, 5, 6, 9 and then 1,2,4,7,8,10 in that snese it feels somewhat disjointed. A few good moments here and there.

Track 1: Title track

Track 2: Mosquitoes

Track 3: No Joy more energy thatn previous tracks. monotone but driving. repetitive droning of messaging

Track 4: Metal Softer than No Joy. still elevated energy level though. Not my fav.

Track 5: Mother, Pray For Me slowed back down, bare arrangment opening. Kinda wish this was the opening track. Keeping with the repetition trend.

Track 6: Til my heart stops Pairs wonderfully with track 5. 5 & 6 sort of feel like a different album thatn the rest so far. yearning and longing mimicry with backing track, when guitar comes in it feels more resolved. song really opens up over time can hear the metaphor playing out with more internal struggle and shyness to open and acceptance at end.

Track 7: Take Energy picking back up. Driving drums and chugging bass/guitar. feels like the next stage post track 6 more self empowerment and drive forward.
-Track 8: Roundabout Intersting track. Kind of a mixture of 70's, Jewel, Dixie Chicks. heavy looping again this time with more of the steel drum 70's sound. Harkens to Beatles a good bit

Track 9: Ark of the Covenant Much darker opening, especially after the previous. Familar tones with tinny guitar/banjo sound. Again more connected to 5 & 6 than the rest.

Track 10: Best Laid Plans Energy level has been pretty consistent at this point over the past 3/4 songs.
