# Prepare for the Next Session
|
||
|
||
First read `.claude/skills/_shared/vault-conventions.md`.
|
||
|
||
## Steps
|
||
|
||
1. **Locate the party.** Read the most recent recap in `3. Session Recaps/` and
|
||
`z_other/Campaign Flow.md` to find where the party is, what they just did,
|
||
and what's unresolved. Ask the DM where they're likely to go next if it's open.
|
||
|
||
2. **Gather the relevant slice of the world.** For the current/expected
|
||
location, collect: the city/region note, the POIs there, the NPCs filed in
|
||
those POIs, and the factions active in the area. Pull open threads (debts,
|
||
promises, enemies made, unanswered questions) from recent recaps and the
|
||
Campaign Flow.
|
||
|
||
3. **Surface the live tensions.** Tie the local situation to the campaign's
|
||
through-lines (the Crown Elect election, automaton rights, the ley-line
|
||
conspiracy from the Campaign Premise).
|
||
|
||
4. **Produce a prep brief** (output in chat — do not write a vault note unless
|
||
asked) with these sections:
|
||
- **Where we left off** — 2–3 sentences.
|
||
- **Likely scenes / locations** — each POI with a one-line vibe + link.
|
||
- **NPCs in play** — name, role, voice cue, what they want, their secret/hook.
|
||
- **Factions & agendas** — who's maneuvering and how.
|
||
- **Open hooks & threats** — dangling threads the party can pull, plus
|
||
possible complications.
|
||
- **Loose ends to decide** — questions only the DM can answer, asked directly.
|
||
|
||
5. **Offer follow-ups** — e.g. stat a missing NPC (create-npc), flesh out a POI
|
||
the party may visit (create-poi), or draft an in-world document for a handout.
|
