Description:
An endless maze of cloth-draped stalls, dye pits steaming with pungent vapors, and guild banners stitched high above cobblestone lanes. The air hums with chatter, loom-click, and the smell of wet dye, spice, and animal fat. Weavers, seamstresses, and banner-makers make up the bulk of the crowd, working families behind every stall. Textiles here are fiercely symbolic — cloth banners are political tools, uniforms reflect parties, and Belter rhetoric thrives in the guild halls tied to Cotton Row.
Lore & Role in Voxiu:
- Cotton Row produces 30% of Baltun’ia’s textiles (per economy notes) and supplies bannerments — literally the cloth for political flags and factions.
- The worker-guilds here lean Belter, pushing hard against automaton-run textile machines that threaten to displace them.
- Many merchants use the market as a rally point, hiding political agitation behind the veneer of commercial trade.

- Hedda Wickwhistle - Cotton Row Market, Guildmother Weaver (Humans, elderly, sharp-tongued)
→ Stalwart Belter voice, runs a cooperative. Wants to commission PCs to “protect” a rally disguised as a guild fair. - Finrick Dawls - Cotton Row Market, Dyemaster (Gnomes, always half-stained blue)
→ Neutral, profit-minded, sells to both factions but has debt records that link to Benton Brothers. - Scout, the boy from Session 1 → A local market runner, good tie-back NPC who can guide or warn the party here.
Plot Hooks / Seeds:
- Labor Riot Incoming: Docks just received a shipment of Vexen Overview-made textile Automatons — angry Belters rally to smash them, but nobles plan to protect them.
- Banners of Allegiance: Both sides want their propaganda banners woven secretly to rig who gets public rallies (PCs may smuggle or sabotage them).
- The Hidden Hand: Among the stalls, a quiet pamphlet-peddler whispers about another faction (hinting Cogwrights Collective Overview or Shadowforged) — but only if asked.
