# Create a Region or City
|
||
|
||
First read `.claude/skills/_shared/vault-conventions.md` and
|
||
`z_templates/Framework Templates/Location Framework Template.md`. Look at a real
|
||
region (`2. World Almanac/Regions of Baltun'ia/Jessergate/Jessergate.md`) and a
|
||
real city (`.../Jessergate/Voxiu/Voxiu.md`) — note the **condensed** real-world
|
||
style: regions lead with Geography / Weather / Specific History / Notable Cities
|
||
(`[[links]]`) / Based Species (`[[links]]`); cities lead with **Type** + Notable
|
||
Features, a prose intro, then Governance / Economy (often a pipe table) /
|
||
Defenses / Culture.
|
||
|
||
## Steps
|
||
|
||
1. **Region or city?** Decide (ask if unclear):
|
||
- Region → `Regions of Baltun'ia/<Region>/<Region>.md`
|
||
- City/town → `<Region>/<City>/<City>.md` (confirm which region it sits in;
|
||
wikilink and cross-add to the region's Notable Cities).
|
||
|
||
2. **Mine canon.** Check the parent region note, the Regions Index, the Economy
|
||
table, and recaps for anything already said about this place. Stay consistent
|
||
with neighboring climate/species/politics.
|
||
|
||
3. **Draft the geography, climate, type, and economy** yourself — these follow
|
||
from the world map and surrounding regions.
|
||
|
||
4. **Collaborate on the creative pivots.** Use AskUserQuestion for:
|
||
- Governance / who holds power, and which faction dominates
|
||
- The defining tension or current conflict here
|
||
- 1–2 plot hooks and any secret tied to the ley-line conspiracy
|
||
Offer options that fit the region's established character.
|
||
|
||
5. **Write the file** using the condensed local style (not the bare template
|
||
verbatim). Wikilink species, neighboring regions, factions, and notable
|
||
NPCs. Use a pipe table for any economic breakdown.
|
||
|
||
6. **Index it.** Add a `[[wikilink]]` from the parent (region → Regions Index;
|
||
city → its region's Notable Cities). Flag sub-locations/NPCs worth stubbing.
