name: create-faction
description: Create a new Faction note (political party, guild, secret order, criminal syndicate, religious body, etc.) for the Baltun'ia campaign from the Faction Framework Template — as a faction folder with its Overview note, wikilinked and slotted into the web of faction relationships. Use when the DM wants to add an organization or power bloc (e.g. "create a smugglers' guild", "add a rival party to the Belters", "make the automaton-rights movement a faction").

# Create a Faction
First read `.claude/skills/_shared/vault-conventions.md` and
`z_templates/Framework Templates/Faction Framework Template.md`. Read a real
faction (`2. World Almanac/Factions/Belters/Belter Overview.md`) and
`2. World Almanac/Factions/Faction Relationships.md` and `Faction Types.md` to
slot the newcomer into the existing political map.
## Steps
1. **Place it.** `2. World Almanac/Factions/<Faction>/<Faction> Overview.md`
(folder + overview note, matching e.g. `Belters/Belter Overview.md`).
2. **Mine canon.** Read Faction Types, Faction Relationships, and the Campaign
Premise. Identify which existing factions this one allies with, opposes, or
competes against — especially around the core tensions (automatons, the
Crown Elect election, the ley-line conspiracy).
3. **Draft** Type, Core Focus, Regions/Cities of influence (wikilinked),
Structure & Membership, and public-facing Philosophy/Goals.
4. **Collaborate on the creative pivots.** Use AskUserQuestion for:
- The faction's *true* agenda vs. its public face
- Its stance toward the central conspiracy (unaware / pawn / architect / opposed)
- Key rivalries and alliances with named existing factions
- 1–2 plot hooks and a notable NPC leader
5. **Write the Overview** following the real faction style (concise bold-field
header, then `## Ideology & Goals`, `## Influence`, `## Notes`, plus Plot
Hooks and Notable NPCs). Wikilink regions, cities, rival factions, and leaders.
6. **Connect it.** Add the new faction to `Faction Relationships.md` (and
`Faction Types.md` if it's a new type) and reciprocally note it in the
overviews of factions it directly allies/clashes with. Offer to create its
leader via create-npc.
